The Spokane Shadow Men’s First Team head into their first-ever National Premier Soccer League home match this Sunday after posting its first-ever NPSL victory with a 2-1 win last weekend. The home opener at Spokane Falls CC Stadium against current league-leader PDX FC of Portland kicks off at 2:00.
A trio of Whitworth players were key in the result on the road in Bonney Lake Saturday night against Pierce County.
Spencer Wolfe, the team captain, found fellow Pirate Kyle Morris 20 minutes into the first half on a fantastic free kick for the go-ahead goal.
Eric Espinoza pushed the lead to two in the 63rd minute on an excellent team effort. The ball was played around the penalty area before Spokane Shadow youth product Chase Reidt (CC Spokane) connected with Espinoza for what proved to be the winner.
The hosts scored late in the match to cut the lead to 2-1, but the goal came seconds before the final whistle sounded.
